Our client Scottish Power are seeking a Recruitment Consultant for a minimum 6 month contract role based in Glasgow.


This will be a very busy internal recruitment role – location Glasgow – but can be home based part time

Candidates should ideally have an Engineering / Technical background ideally
Sourcing experience , Able to navigate the immigration service , Headhunter type individual , Confident with stakeholder management , Managing senior staff’s expectations
High volume specialised recruitment , If used to working in an HR function as well – would be an advantage , In-house – RPO type background

Job Purpose Statement

To provide a proactive, future focused consultancy service to support the business to meet their resourcing and recruitment requirement needs, ensuring the right person is recruited to the right position at the right time.

Accountability Statement

1. Develop and deliver recruitment plans to meet the resourcing requirements of the business.
2. Develop attraction and selection plans and recommendations utilising appropriate channels to recruitment, based on future growth plans and recommendations in terms of the recruitment budget to maximise SP’s reach across the industry.
3. Vacancy management of non-standard roles and co-ordination and management of recruitment campaigns ensuring any recruitment content is in line with our internal guidelines and employer brand proposition.
4. Build and maintain a talent pool of potential candidates with relevant communication strategies both internally and externally, utilising social media and internal and external communication tools and methods. Utilise internal talent pools and EDR succession planning.
5. Promoting SP opportunities and SP as an employer of choice through management of the careers portal, SP social media platforms and attending job fairs/career events, ensuring a joined approached with other departments to deliver an excellent candidate experience.
6. Challenge any recruitment/extension requests from the business considering business plans, growth plans and recruitment challenges as well as headcount and FTE implications.
7. Identify and analyse external research, marketing intelligence and benchmarking to inform recruitment plans and approaches.
8. Provide Recruitment Advisers with vacancies to manage including potential candidates and recommendations for attraction and selection.
9. Identify manager training and support requirements through auditing of deployment of recruitment policies and procedures.
10. Monitor, assess, review and continually improve the candidate experience.

Provision of operational recruitment consultancy support across SP UK businesses, of varying technical, professional and operational requirements.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience


• Previous in-house recruitment knowledge, preferably in the utilities industry
• Experience of working in a consultative capacity to ensure delivery of recruitment plans
• Expert on recruitment and selection methodologies, including changing best practice, to provide solutions to enable ScottishPower to attract the right calibre of candidate, including in relation to specialist roles
• Knowledge of employment legislation, especially that affecting recruitment and selection
• Knowledge of a range best practice recruitment methodologies and experience
• Ability to work in partnership with the business to understand and solve the recruitment challenges
• Able to capitalise on the use of appropriate technologies and approaches to promote SP as an employer of choice
• Ability to formulate a recruitment strategy to generate suitable candidates for the business
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels

Planning & Organising

• Responsible for organising own time in order to generate the candidates required
• Responsible for arranging resources required for any attendance at job/career events
• Provide updates to the Communication Team for updates to the careers portal and social media platforms
• Responsible for researching most effective channels for reaching passive candidates and promoting our opportunities


Minimum Criteria

• Knowledge of employment legislation, especially that affecting recruitment and selection
• Knowledge of a range of best practice recruitment methodologies and experience in their use
• Experience of working within a recruitment and selection environment.
