Job Description:

NonStop are working with a global business conglomerate with interests in Pharma, Financial Services, Information Management, Glass Packaging and Real Estate. With offices in 30 countries and brand presence in over 100 markets, this company has a global team of over 10,000 people from 21 diverse nationalities.

Our client are seeking an EHS Manager to be based in their site in Falkirk. The ideal candidate would have had experience within the pharmaceutical industry and have previous experience in a senior EHS role.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and update relevant site policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation
* Key team member in establishment and maintenance of ESH management systems in support of site goals, corporate guideline adherence.
* Liaise with representatives from the HSE where necessary. Work with Occupational Health and Human Resources to gather specialist / technical information to enable the company to respond in a suitable manner to any legal claims made against it.
* Perform ESH audits.
* Manage the maintenance and development of the site Material safety data sheet system.
* Develop and update relevant site policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation.
* To ensure that ESH management systems are maintained and are effective in providing a safe and environmentally secure operating platform for the site
* To ensure ESH practices and procedures are operated effectively across all aspects of the operation thereby reducing the safety hazards and environmental impact on employees and the community
* Ensure maintenance of safe and environmentally acceptable operations by reviewing and approving all modifications to new and existing processes, materials and equipment whilst preserving line management responsibility for these issues.
* Act as the ESH contact for introducing new process, ensuring that this is influenced to achieve rapid and effective implementation of projects
* Ensure that risk assessments are available for all site tasks and that these are current.
* Ensuring full reporting and investigation of accidents, illness and dangerous occurrences. Ensure that all incidents are effectively investigated, reported and closed out and learnings are effective. Ensure that all reports are made to the HSE and Corporate ESH within the stipulated timeframes.
* Take responsibility for the collection and communication of ESH data and ensure that this is analysed to identify trends for remedial action
* Liaise effectively with all departments to ensure wide dissemination of ESH information and ensure rapid eradication of ESH problems.
* Enhance general safety systems by introduction of written codes of practice, design standards and general policy statements
* Ensure that the highest practicable standards of workforce protection are maintained through the best levels of training and readiness of the site emergency systems
* Ensure that emergency response teams site fire protection systems are maintained in full working order at all times and to the best industry standards by liaison with site landlord.
* Provide an effective link between the site, its insurance company (for ESH) and Corporate Loss Control to ensure that risks are appropriately managed and that actions identified are closed in the agreed timeframe.
* Maintain an effective group of departmental safety representatives. Augment their performance by appropriate training and hold regular meetings to discuss safety problems.
* Ensure that there is an appropriate flow of management information from Safety representatives and the accident databases so that programmes can be modified and performance is continuously improved.
* Ensure that all reports are made to the Environment Agency and Corporate ESH within the stipulated timeframes and that any required actions are effectively managed.



Key Qualifications

* Ideally educated to degree level or with equivalent and relevant work experience.
* Should have experience in a relevant industry to ideally include safe systems of work, COSHH, potent handling, occupational hygiene, health and safety auditing, dealing with HSE and environmental inspectors.
