If you are passionate about food and have previous experience in a busy hotel then we would love to hear from you!Key Areas of ResponsibilityFood Preparation & CookingKitchen Operations SupportLearning & DevelopmentTeam CollaborationJob Purpose The Commis Chef supports the kitchen team in food preparation, cooking, and service, while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced culinary environment. This role is designed as a learning position, offering the opportunity to develop skills under the guidance of senior chefs, contribute to daily kitchen operations, and build a strong foundation for a culinary career.Role ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & CookingAssist with food preparation including chopping, marinating, and assembling ingredients.Support cooking tasks under supervision, learning techniques such as grilling, baking, sauteing, and plating.Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation meet kitchen standards.Kitchen Operations SupportMaintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas in line with hygiene standards.Wash dishes, sanitise surfaces, and correctly dispose of waste.Assist with stock rotation, inventory checks, and receiving deliveries.Learning & DevelopmentParticipate in training sessions and workshops to grow culinary skills and knowledge.Seek feedback and guidance from senior chefs, showing initiative and willingness to improve.Demonstrate enthusiasm for learning different sections of the kitchen.Team CollaborationWork closely with kitchen colleagues to support smooth service.Follow instructions from senior chefs and communicate effectively with the team.Contribute positively to the kitchen environment and team culture.Preferred Experience & SkillsPrior kitchen or culinary training experience is an advantage but not essential.Strong interest in food, cooking, and developing a culinary career.Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.Good communication and teamwork skills.Reliable, motivated, and eager to learn.Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.Benefits:Global discounted staff room rates across the group50% off Food and 25% Beverage across the groupAccrued Annual Leave with ServiceFriends and Family discountGym Membership Discounts*Continual training and developmentCareer progression within the GroupGratuities *Meals on shiftBike to work schemeTaxsaver for travelRefer a friend schemeWellness at work events and access to wellness platformEmployment Assistance ProgrammeGroup discounts for cinema tickets, shopping deals etcTeam appreciation daysService recognitionRegular fun-filled activities and gatherings for all teams across the group*Applicable to certain positionsDean Group owns and operates a number of hotel across Ireland, in certain instances we may feel your skills and experience may suit another role we have available.
